S1: E1 - Kalina & Kiana Seek A Record Deal

The girls take meetings with record labels, in search of the right partner. They seek a team that will support them musically, as artists and role models. Lack of chemistry and a shared vision are potential deal breakers for the girls.

​Flashback: Kalina & Kiana discuss how they got started and we see footage from their first gig, at ages 11 & 13 - a "Special Olympics" event with The Beach Boys.

S1: E2 - Kalina & Kiana Have Side Hustles

Though the girls have secured their record deal, the money doesn’t come in right away. They continue to put their musical talent and existing catalog to work in an effort to earn money. We get a glimpse of the family working on song placement in film & TV projects, while continuing to play corporate parties to pay the bills.

Flashback: Kalina & Kiana’s first band, “The Raymies” filmed a music video in a supermarket, at midnight, with their first manager.

S1: E3 - Kalina & Kiana Deal With The Challenges Of Social Media

The girls discuss their frustration with gaining followers online. (Social media started out as a tool for artists to connect with their fans. But algorithms make it almost impossible for an artist to break through, without paying top dollar for advertising.) Decisions need to be made on where to spend limited funds.

Flashback: The Raymies get a call from Brillstein Entertainment, to create a reality show during a writer's strike. The band has to make the tough decision to leave their first manager and go with Brillstein.

S1: E4 - Kalina & Kiana Write Songs

Viewers get a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the writing process, as cameras sit in with Kalina & Kiana during a writing session - from concept to finished song. Once the song is complete, the girls will discuss production ideas and sounds, as they make plans to record.  

Flashback: Within months of forming their first band at ages 11 & 13, the girls were thrust into meetings with four major record labels.

​S1: E5 - Kalina & Kiana Record Songs

With plans and ideas, the girls head into the studio to meet with a guest producer to work on their next single. 

Flashback: As a platform to launch their band, John Stamos wrote a pilot for The Raymies that was intended to replace “Hannah Montana” on Disney Channel.

S1: E6 - Kalina & Kiana Search For A Stylist

Kalina & Kiana are searching for the “look” for their next music video and single release. They meet with different stylists until they find the perfect match.

Flashback: The girls reflect on their teenage looks through the years - from their television pilots, their appearance on “According To Jim,” to their recent music videos.  ​

S1: E7 - Kalina & Kiana Shoot A Music Video

The girls brainstorm ways to bring their song to life, visually. We follow the creative process from concept, to storyboarding and finally, production. 

Flashback: Disney LOVED The Raymies’ pilot and told the band to sit tight, while they developed a show for The Jonas Brothers. The girls soon found out that Disney stole the concept of their show and gave it to The Jonas Brothers.

S1: E8 - Kalina & Kiana Deal With The Challenges Of Social Media (Part 2)

The girls explore the effects of social media on society and interview social media experts and psychologists. Kalina & Kiana work with their PR team as they attempt to devise a social media strategy with the mental health of their followers in mind.

Flashback: Since Disney torpedoed The Raymies TV show, the band decided to focus on music and pursue a development deal with Nashville label - Cherry Heart. Just before signing on the dotted line, Cherry Heart’s offices were raided by the FBI. ​

S1: E9 - Kalina & Kiana Release A Single

Kalina & Kiana prepare to release their new single. As we observe all of the business elements they have to deal with, the girls also plan an extravagant release party.

Flashback: Toymaker, SpinMaster, agreed to finance a new television series for “The Raymies” in partnership with Nickelodeon. A decision was made to eliminate one of the band members. Her revengeful mother ultimately destroyed the deal.

S1: E10 - Kalina & Kiana Perform On Late Night Shows

As the girls are promoting their single, they make the rounds and perform on the “Late Night” shows in Los Angeles and New York. We get a true behind-the-scenes look at the rigorous schedule and the hard work that goes into promoting a song.

Flashback: Disney circled back to The Raymies team to create a new show. Brillstein enlisted Jeff Franklin (creator of “Full House”), as the show runner. The Raymies had the best pitch meeting in Disney’s history. Days later, Disney contacted Michael to say that they only wanted Kalina and Kiana. In an effort to do the right thing and keep the band together, Michael turned down the deal. But that didn’t stop the internal jealousy from the other band members and their parents, which eventually imploded the band. Kalina & Kiana’s family lost their house and moved in with Nana (Kalina & Kiana’s Grandmother).

SEASON 2

While Season 2 will unfold organically with high and lows, we’ve included episode titles, describing the potential storyline for the real-time portion, along with our vision for the Flashback of each episode.

S2: E1 - Kalina & Kiana Record An Album (Part 1)

Present Day / Real Time: Recording

Flashback: Kalina & Kiana are offered a new television show in Italy. After a year of development, the family travels there to film the pilot.​

S2: E2 - Kalina & Kiana Record An Album (Part 2)

Present Day / Real Time: Recording

Flashback: The exclusive Italian contract prohibited the girls from using their names “Kalina & Kiana” on other projects while the show was being shopped. They began to record and perform under the name, “Rocky's Revival.”​

​

S2: E3 - Kalina & Kiana Plan Their Album Release

Present Day / Real Time: Planning

​Flashback: Kalina was diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy.​

​

S2: E4 - Kalina & Kiana Film Music Videos

Present Day / Real Time: Filming

​Flashback: Viacom acquired a stake in the Italian company, which put the show on hold for nearly three years. The girls continued to perform while Kalina recovered from cancer.​

​

S2: E5 - Kalina & Kiana Give Back - Benefit Concert

This episode will be dedicated (present day and flashback) to “Cancer For College” - a charity that gives college scholarships to cancer survivors and has given numerous opportunities to Kalina & Kiana. The girls will organize and perform at a benefit concert for CFC, hosted by Will Ferrell, the charity’s celebrity advocate.

S2: E6 - Kalina & Kiana Release & Promote Their New Album

Flashback: We’ll see Kalina & Kiana writing, recording and filming music videos over the years.​

S2: E7 - Kalina & Kiana Plan A World Tour & Brand Partnerships

​Flashback: After years of ups and downs, the idea is born to document their journey, so others can see what it really takes to make it in today’s music industry. ​

S2: E8 - Kalina & Kiana Begin Tour Rehearsals & Promotion

​Flashback: The girls reflect, as we see a montage of 100s of gigs and corporate events over the years.​

S2: E9 - Kalina & Kiana Finish Rehearsals & Plan Merchandise

​Flashback: As we completed our sizzle reel and prepared to pitch “Surviving The Music,” COVID-19 hit - shutting down the music industry…and the world. The girls had to wait two more years for the industry to rebound.​

S2: E10 - Kalina & Kiana Take A Break (To Rest Up Before The Tour)

Present Day / Real Time: Vacationing

​Flashback: We see the girls performing at ReelScreen and pitching "Surviving The Music" finally resumed.

SEASON 3 & Beyond

Season 3 will follow Kalina & Kiana on tour as their career evolves.

Flashbacks will continue with each episode, as we continue to learn more about the girls and their journey.
